Every automaker is looking to define what the future of the automotive market will be like. From vehicle concepts to new technology to green vehicles, innovation certainly isn’t lacking. Subaru took a different approach by introducing the next-generation Impreza at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Subaru Impreza Concept debuted in hatchback form at the Tokyo Auto Show in early November. Shortly after, Subaru showed off what the sedan would look like as well. Overall, we’re impressed.
From the front end’s angular styling to the scalloped character line that runs down the sides, the newest Impreza looks better than ever. This sports car hasn’t been lacking in style in recent years but the latest generation takes it to a new level.
The styling elements that were on display point towards the future design of all Subaru models come 2020. The next generation Impreza arrives at dealerships next year.
The Impreza is an important vehicle on Subaru’s lineup. Last year, 58,000 Imprezas left lots in addition to the 25,500 Impreza WRX performance models. Considering Subaru’s sales totaled about 282,000 units, the Impreza is a large mover.
Here at Steve Lewis Subaru, we can’t wait to see what the next-generation Impreza will look like in production form! If you’re looking for current Imprezas, check out our Impreza inventory!
We’re already 1/3 of the way to our fundraising goal, with $10k raised for Helping Hearts for Hadley Schools!
Subaru’s Share the Love event is just another way the automaker is giving back to local communities. By the end of 2015, the eighth year for the event, over $65 million will head out to charities, both national and local. This year’s local charity is Helping Hearts for Hadley Schools.
Based in Hadley, Massachusetts, Helping Hearts for Hadley Schools’ mission is to bring administration, parents, students, and the rest of the community together to raid funds. Methods include a 5k, donations, and an end-of-the-year block party.
For 2015, the charity’s goals are to raise $20,000, increase the size of annual events, motivate the community to be active, and work together for a common goal. Overall, there are two main goals: be healthy and be active.
So how can you get involved? Well, it’s actually pretty simply.
If you aren’t looking to buy or lease a new Subaru before January 2, 2016, there are plenty of ways to help out your local schools! Register for a 5k walk/run or just donate. If there are other ways you’d like to make a difference in our community, use this contact form and ask away!
Here at Steve Lewis Subaru, we’d love to see you at the next annual 5k race!
Buy a new Subaru and we’ll donate $250 to charity!
Subaru dealerships across the nation are gearing up for the eighth annual Subaru Share the Love campaign, which stretches from November 19th until January 2nd of next year. During this time, Subaru will be donating $250 for every vehicle sold or leased.
The charities the company will be donating the money to will vary depending on the dealership. There are several more well-known organizations involved – the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Meals on Wheels, and the ASPCA, just to name a few – but dealerships can also opt to partner with and include their local community charities and organizations as well. Even better, the customers themselves are the ones given the choice of who they want to donate their money to.
Over the past seven years, Subaru has already donated a cumulative $50 million altogether through the Subaru Share the Love campaign. They predict that the upcoming eighth campaign will add $15 million to that total, allowing them to give back to their communities more than ever before.
Check out our efforts at Steve Lewis Subaru to raise more than 29 thousand dollars for the Hadley PTA last year. This year we’ll be sponsoring Helping Hearts for Hadley Schools!
Don’t get caught out in the cold – be ready for winter with these driving tips!
Winter has a lot of advantages going for it. Food, family, presents – even snow and ice can be pretty once you get past the chilly weather. However, driving in that snow and ice is the hard part, and wondering how to stay safe during the winter months can be a source of concern. Here are a few winter driving safety pointers to minimize and avoid hazards as the cold months creep closer.
First of all, preparation is key. Regular maintenance goes a long way in preventing potential problems, but it’s important to get a checkup before the weather gets chilly. Cold air affects the traction of your tires and their air pressure, reduces battery capacity, makes oil thicker, and overall has several adverse effects on the mechanical parts of your car.
Because of these things, you should always have your tires changed out for seasonal tires and always make sure the air pressure is good. Change the battery if it’s old, and have the oil changed. Keep your car stocked with things such as blankets and changes of clothes, in addition to standard car emergency kit supplies such as jumper cables and flashlights.
Visibility is important, too. Make sure your heating system works, because your defroster will be crucial. Keep an ice scraper around, too.
Follow these tips and you’re on your way to good winter driving safety. Taking care of your vehicle, making adequate preparations, and being stocked well in case of emergency are all key to ensuring you minimize possible accidents and hazards this winter.
Subaru’s been aiming for the stars when it comes for sales, setting a goal of 600,000 sales in North America by 2020. While China is considered the world’s largest auto market, Subaru has cut exports to the country and is shipping more vehicles to the United States. Deliveries to the United States have risen for nearly four consecutive years, month-over-month.
Subaru, whose logo is pictured here on the BRZ, is hitting sales goals ahead of schedule.
Demand is insanely high in the United States where Subaru has gained market share as a brand known for its all-wheel drive vehicles.
“The China slump won’t have any impact on our earnings,” said Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, Subaru CEO. “Even if we divert the gap in China sales all to the U.S., we still won’t meet the demand there.”
The automaker may hit 600,000 vehicles in North American in 2015. That sets Subaru’s sales plan five years ahead of schedule. By 2017, Subaru may sell 700,000 vehicles. In comparison, exports to China may not make it to 50,000 vehicles in 2015.
To further increase sales in the United States, Subaru plans to add a new SUV to its lineup. The new SUV will seat up to seven. Production will take place in Lafayette, Indiana after 2017.
We here at Steve Lewis Subaru are happy to see a bright horizon for the brand as a whole!

The 2016 Subaru WRX STI is one of the many cars that will see changes in Subaru’s lineup
Let’s face it. Automakers are rolling new models off the line every couple of years and it’s pretty easy to lose track of what vehicles are still in production and which have been sent out to pasture. While Subaru has strived to make its vehicles recognizable yet simple, it can still get a little confusing. That’s why we here at Steve Lewis Subaru have the updates for Subaru’s lineup simplified for your reference.
The Subaru BRZ is loaded with entertainment features for the 2016 model year and is offering a special edition. This year’s Series.HyperBlue will have a run of 500 units with a blue exterior. The automaker states that the current design will roll off line for the last time for the 2017 model year. The 2018 model will likely be a complete redesign.
The Subaru Impreza comes in a four and five door compact and gets a little bigger with more high-tech options for the 2016 model year. The XV Crosstrek, the crossover based on the Impreza, will go simply by Crosstrek later this year. Expect a redesign of the crossover in 2018.
The WRX/WRX STI is also getting a Series.HyperBlue special edition run of 700 units. Expect minor performance updates and an upgraded interior. Redesigned last year, the only major change is the addition of a hatchback in 2018.
The Subaru Forester will likely be refreshed in 2017. Subaru is currently planning a seven seat crossover come 2017 as well.
As for the Legacy and Outback, expects refreshes in the 2018 model year. Also expect a plug-in hybrid version of an existing model in 2018 as well.
Which model’s refresh are you looking forward to the most?
Check out some of these car washing tips to make your car look squeaky clean.
Washing your car by hand may seem like a thing of the past as automated car washes seem to pop up every couple of blocks. There are things an automated wash won’t get off, though, which means you’ll need to do some scrubbing. Don’t know where to start? No worries! We here at Steve Lewis Subaru will help you out with some car washing tricks!
First, make sure you’re using a soap dedicated to cars. Using other soaps and cleaners, like household detergents, can damage your paint over time. Soap dedicated to cars will care for the paint and ensures there won’t be any harm.
The best time to wash your car is when it’s cool out. Usually, the mornings or evenings are best. Washing when the sun is high in the sky and beating down on your vehicle will cause water and soap to dry quickly, meaning you’ll need to wet your car over and over again to rinse and remove water stains. That can turn into some serious time wasted!
No matter what The Karate Kid taught you, “wax on, wax off” is not the way to go when using a sponge on your car. Moving the sponge in circles can create swirl marks, light but still noticeable scratches. Instead, move the sponge up and down for a clean result.
Our pets are like family, so when traveling, their safety is just as important as ours! In order to raise awareness about pet crate safety while traveling, Subaru and the Center for Pet Safety (CPS) have joined together in a partnership. They recently released the results of their 2015 Crate and Carrier Crashworthiness Study and we’re here to let you know what products received the best ratings.
Keep your pet safe in the car with one of our study’s suggested carriers.
After running the study, Subaru and CPS came to the conclusion that the three products listed below provided the most effective levels of safety for pets.
1. 2015 Top Performing Crate – Gunnar Kennels G1 Intermediate with 8’ Tie Down Straps
2. 2015 Top Performing Carrier – PetEgo Forma Frame Jet Set Carrier
3. 2015 Top Performance Carrier – ISOFIX-Latch Connection and Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed with PPRS Handilock
Michael McHale, Subaru’s Director of Corporate Communications, said, “Alongside Center for Pet Safety, we are proud to help lead the charge in identifying the best crates and carriers for pet lovers everywhere, while, more importantly, making pet parents aware of the safety measures they can take and the dangers that can occur if they don’t.”
One of the main components of the Subaru Love Promise is helping animals. Locally, we work with the Dakin Animal Shelter, while nationally Subaru partners with the ASPCA and the National Wildlife Federation.
Crates and carriers are so important when traveling with your pet, as they protect them from becoming a projectile in case you’re ever in an accident. For more about pet crate safety, click here.
The Subaru and United By Blue partnership will be providing 6 waterway cleanups throughout the end of this year and in 2016. The partnership efforts will help to keep rivers and oceans free of garbage.
United By Blue’s mission is to have a pound of waste removed from waterways for every product they sell, and Subaru is the official vehicle of the clean-up efforts.
Subaru’s partnership with United by Blue enters its fourth year with a commitment to waste removal.
Together their goal is to reach 250,000 pounds of trash removal by the end of the year.
Brian Linton, founder of United By Blue, said, “We are proud to continue our partnership with Subaru, a brand that shares our commitment to saving the environment.”
This round of clean-ups recently started at the end of last month and will run through May 2016. To date, United By Blue has removed 243,843 pounds from rivers, streams, oceans and creaks after 131 organized cleanups.
At Steve Lewis Subaru, we are proud of the projects Subaru has committed to in hopes of making our world a better place!
