Finding the Perfect Fall Family Activity

Are you looking for a fun fall family activity? Fall will soon be arriving on September 22. For many, it’s the best season of the year. Whether you want to do something relaxing like apple picking, or if you prefer something a little more adventurous, everyone can find something fun to do this fall.

Top on the list of fall activities is harvesting apples, according Women’s Day magazine. Massachusetts has some of the best apple orchards around, as now is the perfect time of year to go picking. You can not only select your favorites, but also learn new recipes for homemade cider, pies, and more. Apples are truly a fall staple, and there’s nothing more fun than getting outdoors with the family.

Camping is also a blast in the fall, especially when the weather is mild. Subaru models are great for getting outdoors, as vehicles like the Forester and Outback have roomy interiors, capable powertrains, and tall ride heights to help you avoid obstacles when you drive on rough terrain. In addition to basic supplies, always be sure to pack plenty of bug spray and a first-aid kit when camping.

Would you rather stay indoors? Try a fall recipe. Pumpkins are great for carving, but you can also find varieties that are particularly great for cooking. Other gourds can make tasty fall dishes, resulting in stews and slow-roasted recipes.

Cleaning Out Your Car After Summer

cleaning out your car in Hadley, MA - washing blue vehicleMaybe it’s been a long summer. Perhaps you have gone on vacation, ferried the kids to soccer camp, or been through a few camping trips. In any case, you might have some cleaning to do now that the little ones are back in school. Cleaning out your car in preparation for fall and winter can be a major undertaking, so here are some major points you should hit.

Wash Your Car

This might be an obvious tip, but when cleaning your car always start off with a sparkling exterior. Make sure to get the undercarriage of your vehicle, too, and do your windows last – soapy water drips down and gets windows dirty again!

Separate “Toss” and “Keep” Piles

If you have a lot of junk in your vehicle, bring out a box and a trash bag. Put all the garbage you don’t want, like fast food wrappers, in the trash bag, and put the things you want to keep in the box.

Scrub the Floors

It’s a good idea to scrub the carpeted floors of your vehicle so that you get out any stains or dirt stuck in the corners.

Vacuum

Finish up your floors by running the vacuum and sucking up any crumbs. Don’t forget the trunk!

Cleaning out your car can be intimidating at first, but if you take it step by step, the cleaning process gets much easier.
