Subaru vehicles have gained a reputation of being reliable, smart, and well-engineered and designed, offering exceptional value to a wide variety of drivers. Although the Outback and Forester are still beloved members of the Subaru lineup, the automaker has decided to offer another SUV to drivers: the Subaru Ascent. The Ascent makes its debut in the 2019 model year, and we couldn’t be more excited.
The 2019 Subaru Ascent is a brand-new three-row SUV that comes with all the features that modern drivers desire. This sophisticated vehicle offers you smart all-wheel drive, off-road capability, and enough space to comfortably accommodate your family and all your adventures. The Ascent comes equipped with an all-new turbocharged boxer four-cylinder engine, which churns out an impressive 260 horsepower, 277 lb-ft of torque, and can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
The Ascent is smart from front to back. To keep your whole family safe while on the go, the Ascent offers a variety of state-of-the-art active safety features, including automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. The Ascent’s smarts extend to its entertainment and connectivity features as well, as the vehicle comes with a standard advanced infotainment system that features a large color touchscreen, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility, and offers available built-in Wi-Fi.

The Tokyo Motor Show is always a fun time of year for auto makers and enthusiasts all over the globe. Some brands are busy unveiling the next model year of their current lineup, and others tease fans with futuristic concepts. Subaru joined in the fun by unveiling a new performance concept car, the Subaru VIZIV Performance STI Concept. This is not the first time a concept car bearing the VIZIV name made its appearance in Tokyo, with the first of its kind appearing onstage at last year’s event, too.
The VIZIV STI builds on the design of its prototypical predecessor, with a similar build, but with this concept having a more confident and aggressive look. It also takes some inspiration from previous Impreza models and STI concepts with hot pink accents, a stacked rear wing, and unique badging. Critics suspect that Subaru plans to incorporate the overall look of these concept cars into the next generation of STI models from the brand, which are expected to launch sometime after the year 2020.
Subaru’s STI lineup has remained largely unchanged for the past decade or so, thus necessitating the introduction of a new generation. With the VIZIV performance concept car making multiple appearances at the Tokyo Motor Show, Subaru seems to be hinting that it recognizes this and is working to rectify it.
The Subaru Viziv-7 concept debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, marking the first time Subaru has considered adding a large SUV to its lineup since the discontinuation of the Tribeca years ago. The Viziv-7 is an SUV with seating for 7 passengers and is larger than the Chevy Tahoe, one of the biggest in the segment.
The Viziv-7 is 205 inches long from bumper to bumper and 72 inches tall, allowing for tons of cargo space in addition to exceptional comfort for passengers. Not much is known yet about the SUV concept besides cosmetic details, but we do know that it will be the largest Subaru ever.
Subaru has a new concept of car development with the goal of “enjoyment and peace of mind,” which it’s implementing with the design of the Viziv-7. Subaru is an outdoors-oriented brand that prioritizes dependability and safety, and the Viziv-7 speaks to those values as well as answering customer desire for a full-size SUV.
The Viziv-7 reflects the direction of future Subaru vehicles, including a transition to larger vehicles that can also be seen in the 2017 Impreza, which has been redesigned to be longer and wider than previous model years. The name “Viziv” is derived from “Vision for Innovation.”
