Looking for local Halloween activities for you and your loved ones? Here are a few suggestions.
Great Pumpkin Nights
Families in Central Massachusetts love this fun festival, entering its 14th year! This all-ages event features over 3,000 carved pumpkins and a vintage passenger train ride.
Zoo Boo Days
If you’re looking for something tamer, this event at the zoo is great, wholesome Halloween fun. And as an added bonus, kids aged 3-12 who come in costume get in free at Southwick’s Zoo!
Six Flags New England is sure to thrill you with more than just its amusement park rides this fall season when it rolls out Frightfest. Exclusive Halloween-themed activities and costumed monsters and ghosts await you at this event.
Factory of Terror
Known as New England’s top haunted house, Factory of Terror is sure to scare a few screams out of you. Located in Worcester, with sister locations in Fall River and West Warwick, RI, the Worcester location features five different haunted attractions to make you scream.
13 Nights of Jiminy
This one is not for the faint of heart. In fact, no little ones under 10 are allowed! Head to Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort to explore the depths of the mountain’s haunted peaks, where villagers once lived in fear of creatures in the woods and deadly diseases.
Check out these local Halloween activities for a great time this October. We at Steve Lewis Subaru can’t wait for the fall fun!
All-wheel drive (AWD) is a major selling point for some car buyers. Perhaps you even know someone who would never even think of buying a car without AWD. But, what are the actual benefits of AWD? Let’s find out, so you can shop smart.
Because power is sent to all four wheels, AWD vehicles provide improved traction. Especially in slippery, snowy, muddy, or off-road conditions, AWD reduces the likelihood of getting stuck. Improved traction can be especially helpful when towing.
Since AWD vehicles distribute the traction load between the four tires more evenly than front-wheel or rear-wheel drive cars, you can expect better acceleration from an AWD vehicle.
Increased Resale Value
Though the additional cost of some AWD models may seem like a drawback, this up-front cost translates into higher resale value if you ever decide to sell your car. Investing in AWD not only makes your vehicle more capable, but it could save you a big headache when the time comes to sell it.
Peace of Mind
Even if you’re not taking your car off-road and into the mountains, or through icy terrain in a remote location, the unexpected still happens. Bad weather can turn paved streets into uncertain territory. Being prepared offers the peace of mind that you and those around you are ready for whatever comes your way.
Whether it’s sand dragged in on the soles of bare feet, pairs of cleats coated in dust tossed into the trunk, or just a whole lot of driving done with the windows rolled down, keeping a clean car interior can feel like an impossible feat in the summer time. Now that the sunny season is almost over (we know, we’re sad too), it’s the perfect time to get your cabin back into tip-top shape — and we have a few clean car interior-tips to help you keep it that way!
Use Q-tips to scrub out hard-to-reach places
Start by dipping a q-tip in water and cleaning solution. Then, primp your cup holders and odd crevices that are somehow always filled with equal parts loose change and mysterious ooze.
Remove stains with water and vinegar
Use half water, half vinegar (that’s it!) and scrub up stains on seats and mats with just a wash cloth. Memories of burst ketchup packets, spilt coffee, and dropped chocolate-dipped cones, be gone!
Save old tissue boxes
Empty tissue boxes aren’t just for the trash bin! Fill them with plastic bags and stash them under a seat, and you’ll have grab-bags always at-the-ready.
Hang a shoe organizer behind one of the front seats
This inexpensive contraption will help your passengers keep games, toys, and other small odd-or-end organized and within reach.
Take a deep breath
Now that you have a clean car interior, keep it smelling like one with a simple concoction of two cups of baking soda and 20 drops of Peppermint or Lavender essential oil mixed in an old shaker container and left beneath a seat.

It’s no secret that all of us here at Steve Lewis Subaru think that every car buyer in America should be purchasing a Subaru vehicle. There are thousands of reasons to buy a Subaru, but here are some of our favorites:
Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive
Almost every automaker offers some version of AWD on some of its models, but no other automaker besides Subaru promises standard AWD on all of its models. Its innovative symmetrical AWD system is more reliable and high-performing than other systems adapted from two-wheel drive.
As Safe as Safe Can Be
Subaru regularly earns IIHS Top Safety Pick awards across its model line-up, a feat few other automakers can boast. Innovations such as Subaru’s ring-shaped frame construction, safety brake pedal system, and the Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control put Subaru in a league of its own when it comes to Safety.
The Price is Right
No other automaker provides standard ahead-of-the-curve innovations within financial reach of everyday drivers the way that Subaru does.
Of course, the top reasons to buy a Subaru are those that you discover yourself. You’re invited to Steve Lewis Subaru for a test drive any time — try not to fall in love too fast!
In 2015, Subaru partnered with PFLAG National (Parents, Family, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) and its chapters nationwide. The goal was to create safer school environments for LGBTQ youth. In June, in honor of Pride Month, Subaru announced its support for PFLAG again and its plans to partner with the company for the Cultivating Respect: Safe Schools for All program.
According to PFLAG, 9 out of 10 LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) students report being bullied and harassed by classmates and even faculty on the basis of their orientation or gender identity. Through the Cultivating Respect program, PFLAG chapters will work directly with schools to develop programs, provide training and resources, and create policies to help ensure safer environments for LGBTQ students.
The Subaru PLFAG partnership is expanding this year. Subaru is increasing its funding and supporting the Cultivating Respect Program’s Top Ten Ways to Keep Schools Safe publication. Subaru is also supporting PFLAG’s We Are the Change national convention, which will be held in Portland, Oregon, this year. The convention focuses on education and relationship building and will recognize individual chapters for outstanding work in their communities.

Taking road trips with kids can be a stressful experience. Kids can be distracting and definitely make things take a little longer than they would if you were by yourself. Here are some tips on road tripping with kids that will make things go smoother and keep you from going crazy.
Get snacks to keep your kids from getting hungry on the road. Choose dry snacks that you won’t mind cleaning up if they spill. Even if your kids have outgrown sippy cups, dig them out from storage and put their drinks in them so you don’t have to clean grape juice out of your nice tan seats.
Check out items from your library to keep the kids entertained instead of spending money on new books and games. Libraries have tons of children’s books, DVDs, board games, and even mobile hotspots. They’re a great resource!
Traveling with your spouse or another adult? Have them sit in the back and entertain the kids to keep them from getting too cranky. Factor in extra time for bathroom breaks and stopping to let them run around and get some energy out, and again, make sure they have access to snacks and drinks. Sometimes though, you’re just not going to be able to stop them from crying. And if nothing is wrong with them you just have to tune it out.
For great, road tripping vehicles, give us a call or stop by Steve Lewis Subaru!
Every holiday season, Subaru has hosted its Share the Love event. The History of Share the Love dates back to 2008 when the program was introduced. Share the Love usually lasts from mid-November until just after the New Year.
During the special fundraising event, Subaru will donate money to a charity of the customer’s choosing for every Subaru bought or leased. For the 2016 event, Subaru had four national charities for customers to choose from: ASPCA, Make-A-Wish, Meals on Wheels America, and the National Park Foundation. In addition to these national charities, there were a number of local charities to choose from, too.
Steve Lewis Subaru always participates in Share the Love and last year was able to raise $56,465 locally for Relay for Life. Relay for Life is a signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society where teams walk along a designated path for up to 24 hours to show that cancer never sleeps.
For Subaru’s 2016 Share the Love event, it set a new record by raising $24.8 million. This brings the total amount raised over the past nine years to over $94 million.
Here at Steve Lewis Subaru, we are looking forward to the 10th annual Share the Love event later this year and think it will be the best year to date.
Treat your Subaru right by choosing genuine Subaru parts!
When it’s time to get your Subaru worked on, you want only the best for it. After all, your Subaru is an investment, and if you take good care of it, it is sure to last you for a long time. When we service at Steve Lewis Subaru, we use only the best for your vehicle. Our Subaru OEM parts are sure to have your vehicle running like new. But what makes these parts stand out compared to others?
Subaru OEM parts are approved by the Subaru brand. These parts are designed to match your specific Subaru exactly as it was intended. Aftermarket parts, on the other hand, may be ill-fitting or may not work as well with the rest of the vehicle. OEM parts ensure that everything in your Subaru stays on par with manufacturer standards.
The other great thing about Subaru OEM parts is that these parts come with their own warranty. In the unlikely event that a part malfunctions or is defective, it will be covered under this warranty. Whether it’s just an oil filter or a new sparkplug, it’s a good feeling to know that a manufacturer is willing to back up its product for you again and again. The next time your Subaru needs serviced, treat it to Subaru OEM parts for the best and longest performance possible.
